Welcome to 7th grade English! I’m so glad that you are here! In this course, we will dig deeper into the the wonderful world of literature. We will be learning new techniques and strategies for writing and reading. We will look at both fiction and nonfiction works. We will be briefly working with Shakespeare, but no fear! There will be light sabers involved in that unit. We will dive into poetry, work on our oral communication skills, and all the while incorporate film and technology into our course. I feel a great responsibility (and honor) as your teacher to provide you with an authentic, permanent learning experience. I will work hard in this course to make sure that you are well equipped to head to the 8th grade next year. You will always need English! We will be doing a lot of reading and writing in this course, but will do so in a new way that will make English seem fun. A few of the exciting activities in your near future include: playing Bingo, using light sabers, acting out scenes, and doing group projects (like creating a rap to a scene of Hamlet). I hope that you are as excited about this course as I am! Get ready to have fun and learn at the same time!
